Artist

Gale McCall

About the Project

Gale McCall’s functional bench sculptures address community use of the Forum parking lot, as well as concert-goers seating needs. Her organic bench designs were fabricated in cast concrete, with each form containing multiple perforations. When lit for nighttime concert events at the Forum, these perforations contribute a surprising purple haze to the area. Madison Square Garden Company, the new owners of the Forum, commissioned Ms. McCall’s works as part of an overall art plan in compliance with the private percent for art requirement established by the City of Inglewood.

About the Artist

Gale McCall is a sculptor working in metals, ceramics and stone. Her public artwork can be found in the collections of Seattle’s Sound Transit, San Diego, and Long Beach and Sacramento as well as in many public buildings in the Los Angeles area. She has exhibited widely throughout Southern California, in the Pacific Northwest and in New York at the Museum of Modern Art’s PS1 facility. She also designs and fabricates residential architectural features. McCall received her BA in Art from Humboldt State University and her MFA from Central Washington University in Ellensburg. She resides in Inglewood.
